This Week’s Featured 5:  2 Essential Oil Singles and 3 Blends

Thyme:  I recently added Thyme to my shampoo and conditioner, a drop per ounce of shampoo and conditioner.  Thyme joins Lavender, Rosemary and Cedarwood in my shampoo and conditioner for lengthening and strengthening hair. Steam distilled from leaves, stems and flowers, Thyme is available as a Young Living Essential Oils‘ single or as part of the Vitality line, which means it can be used to flavor food and as a dietary supplement. Thyme enhances citrus desserts and supports wellness, when taken as a supplement. A component of Thyme, Thymol, is used in mouthwashes and vapor rubs because of it purifying properties. When diffused, Thyme can help to instill a sense of purpose and to overcome that tired feeling after an illness. Thyme can also be applied topically, diluted 1:1 (1 part essential oil to 1 part carrier oil). Caution: May irritate the nasal membranes or skin if inhaled directly from a diffuser or bottle or applied neat (with no carrier oil). Thyme is found in the following Young Living Essential Oils‘ products: Inner Defense, Longevity, Ortho Ease and Ortho Sports massage oils, ParaFree, Rehemogen, and Thieves Dentratome Ultra Toothpaste.

TummyGize:  TummyGize is available as part of Young Living Essential Oils‘ KidScents line and is a proprietary blend of Coconut Oil (carrier oil) and Spearmint, Peppermint, Tangerine, Fennel, Anise, Ginger and Cardamom essential oils. As the name implies, TummGize helps to soothe little tummies, but we’ve already established that big tummies can benefit, too. The recommended application for children, 2-12 years old, is topically, 2-4 drops directly on the tummy. TummyGize can also be diffused up to 1 hour, 3 times daily.

Valor:  Trust me when I tell you that whenever Valor is in stock, you need to order it. Valor is a proprietary blend of Coconut Oil (carrier oil) and Black Spruce, Blue Tansy, Frankincense and Rosewood essential oils. This top-selling blend is a real confidence booster. Valor can be diffused, directly inhaled or applied topically, neat (without carrier oil) or diluted. Young Living does not adulterate its essential oils, and when the plants or trees, from which most of the oils are sourced, are impacted by weather and other conditions, the resulting essential oil goes out of stock. Because Valor is composed of several high quality, sometimes scarce essential oils and due to its popularity, this blend may be out of stock for longer periods of time. Young Living formulated a Valor II blend, which contains many of the essential oils in the Valor blend, to tide us over.

Vetiver:  Let’s just say that sometimes I need a little – Squirrel! – focus. My much-requested Focus roller bottle recipe is 10 drops each of Vetiver, Cedarwood and Lavender, topped with a carrier oil in a 10 ml roller bottle. I roll it on my wrists and temples, as needed. Vetiver is steam distilled from the root of the plant and helps with things like focusing, relaxing, sleep, mood and skin care – from acne to “fine” lines. When diffused, Vetiver has an earthy, grounding aroma. Vetiver can also be directly inhaled and applied topically, neat. Vetiver is found in the following Young Living Essential Oils‘ products: A.R.T. Creme Masque, Deep Relief Roll-On, Lady Sclareol, Malaleuca-Geranium Moisturing Soap, Ortho Ease and Ortho Sport massage oils, ParaFree, SleepEssence, and Thieves Fresh Essence Plus Mouthwash.

White Angelica:  This proprietary blend of Sweet Almond Oil (carrier oil) and Bergamot, Melissa, Geranium, Ylang Ylang, Rose, Myrrh, Black Spruce, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood, Hyssop and Rosewood essential oils is dubbed by fans as “the poor person’s version of Angelica essential oil” or “patience in a bottle.” I put the “patience in a bottle” to the test last year by wearing a drop in a diffuser necklace while Christmas shopping. We all made it out alive. When diffused, White Angelica promotes feelings of protection and security. White Angelica can also be directly inhaled or applied topically, neat.

Another great group of essential oils and blends with a wide variety of uses. This week’s oil to be given to a random Oils & Spoils follower is TummyGize, which could come in handy if one overindulges in the Halloween candy that has already been in the store for weeks now.

Until next week, Thy-uh-ah-um-eh is on my side.

Not really an Oils & Spoils Update, but the full moon was huge last night. As captured by my phone, the moon appears to be the same size as the glow of a car’s headlights
