If it seems like most every week during the 99 Bottles of Oils on the Wall series that I write, “This week’s featured 5 essential oils and blends contain some of my favorites,” well, here I go again. There are 2 blends in this week’s post that I use every day.
Welcome to the 17th installment of 99 Bottles of Oils on the Wall, where each week I take 5 essential oils and blends from my oil cabinet and various other places and pass around information, as well as give 1 of the featured 5 to 1 lucky person, drawn from Oils & Spoils followers. This Week’s Featured 5: 3 Blends and 2 Singles
SniffleEase: SniffleEase is part of Young Living Essential Oils‘ KidScents line and is a proprietary blend of Coconut Oil and Eucalyptus Blue, Palo Santo, Lavender, Dorado Azul, Ravinstara, Myrtle, Eucalyptus Globulus, Marjoram, Pine , Eucalyptus Citriodora, Cypress, Eucalyptus Radiata, Black Spruce and Peppermint essential oils. The Coconut Oil serves as a carrier oil to this blend of essential oils, most of which are recommended to help with congestion. As with the other KidScents’ blends I have, I had to try this one. Don’t judge. SniffleEase is recommended for children, 2-12, and can be applied topically, 2-4 drops on desired area, or diffused.
Stress Away: Hands down, my favorite Young Living Essential Oils blend. I use it every day, and sometimes, more than once a day. I start my day by rolling Stress Away on my wrists and behind my ears, and I never leave home without it, whether running errands around town or traveling farther distances. I like to joke that people around me are alive, and I’m not in jail, because Stress Away. Stress Away is a proprietary blend of Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Ocotea and Lavender. In addition to topical application, Stress Away can be directly inhaled or diffused.
Tangerine: Tangerine essential oil is cold pressed from the fruit’s rind and is available as an essential oil single or as part of Young Living Essential Oils‘ Vitality line, which means it can be added to food or taken as a dietary supplement. Another cool thing to know about the Vitality line is that all the essential oils are 5 ml size; whereas, the essential oil singles are usually 15 ml size. The smaller size makes it easier and less expensive to try the Vitality Oils. Tangerine smells and tastes like, well, tangerine, so ah and yum! When distilled, Tangerine promotes happiness and calming. Tangerine also supports healthy lungs and liver and is a helpful learning and memory aid. In addition to ingestion and diffusing, Tangerine can also be inhaled directory or applied topically, diluted 1:1 (1 part essential oil to 1 part carrier oil). Caution: Citrus oils are photosensitive, so if applying Tangerine topically, do so at night or wear sunscreen. Tangerine can be found in the following Young Living Essential Oils products: Awaken, Citrus Fresh, ComforTone, Dream Catcher, Inner Child, Joy, KidScents Shampoo and Slique Toothpaste, NingXia Red, Peace & Calming, Relaxation Massage Oil, SleepEssence, Slique Essence, and Super C.
Tea Tree: Young Living Essential Oils’ Tea Tree is of the Melaleuca Alternifolia (or Mel A) variety and is steam distilled from the plant’s leaves. I apply Tea Tree directly to blemishes to hasten their departure and use Tea Tree as part of a blemish gel recipe. Indeed, Tea Tree is often used in skin care because of its cleansing properties. I’ve also noticed an improvement in my sinuses when using Tea Tree on my face, another nice property of Tea Tree. Tea Tree can be applied topically, diluted 1:1, inhaled directly or diffused.
Thieves: Thieves is another blend I use every day, 1 drop on my toothpaste for good, oral health, and as part of my Immunity Booster that I roll on the bottoms of my feet before I leave the house. In the past year and a half, I’ve only been sick once, and it wasn’t due to a virus. Thieves works. Available as an essential oils blend or as part of the Vitality line, Thieves is a proprietary blend of Almond Oil (used as a carrier oil) and Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata and Rosemary essential oils. The Thieves name comes from a legend about a group of 15th Century thieves who rubbed this combination of oils on them to avoid getting the plague as they robbed the dead and dying. Supposedly, they received a lesser punishment by divulging their secret recipe. Thieves can be added to food or drink as a flavoring, taken as a dietary supplement, diffused, directly inhaled and applied topically, neat (no carrier oil) on the bottoms of the feet or 1 drop on the roof of the mouth for a headache or diluted 1:4.
