I was taken with the notion to make a personalized pacifier clip for my newest nephew who will arrive soon. It was Sunday afternoon, an hour and a half before the “come and go” baby shower for my sweet sister-in-law. I had previously scored all I needed to make the clip, or so I thought, as I frantically searched for the alligator clip I just knew I had set aside from my stash. Oh, baby, baby, now I had to leave the house in search of a particular notion.
Because I’m not a procrastinator, right?! First stop was Walmart, because it’s a little over a mile from my house. I found it slightly dubious that Walmart was sold out of alligator clips. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Next stop was Michael’s, clear across town. In the time it takes one to cross Murfreesboro, Tenn., one could also drive to another town 20 or so miles down the road. Luckily, Michael’s had alligator clips in stock.
Once home , I assembled Charlie’s pacifier clip. I love to give personalized pacifier clips to close friends and family, because they are truly a unique gift and much love goes into creating them. I had purchased the owl beads and matching owl pacifier (how lucky is that?!) at Walmart on a previous trip. I had in my stash the following supplies: alphabet beads, sodalite stars, smoky quartz and tiger eye round beads, blue seed beads, bead wire and crimps.
To make the clip, I strung about 3 inches of seed beads on the bead wire and secured them with a crimped tube. I wrapped this end around the pacifier handle. After trimming the shortest of the two wires from the crimped tube, I strung the other beads, as shown in the picture above, onto the remaining wire. This part of the clip is about 8 inches. I then secured the end to the alligator clasp with a crimped tube.
It was now 45 minutes past the time that the “come and go” shower started. I arrived a fashionable hour late, and it didn’t look like a “come and go” shower. Luckily, my beautiful, patient sister-in-law was still opening presents, with everyone seated in a circle around her. I think she liked Charlie’s clip. Hopefully, Charlie will, too. One of my friends said his son was mesmerized by his. So, maybe the clip will keep Charlie occupied for a bit.
And maybe, next time, I won’t procrastinate. One can dream.
Until next time, clip it, clip it real good.

Below is a custom order for a bride and her bridesmaids. Sterling silver anklets with individually wrapped Swarovski crystals to match their dresses. Each anklet took about 45 minutes to make. It’s a barefoot wedding, and these anklets are the closest things to shoes.
I’ve never been able to stand head bands, until now. The fabric ones would slide up and the plastic and medal ones would clamp down on my head like a vice. Goody’s Colour Collection, which features elastics, bobby pins and claws to match blonde, brunette or black hair, has the same in a flexible rubber head band. Pure bliss, as I’m growing out the bangs I had to have when Reese Witherspoon had hers. Alas, the bangs did not make me look like Reese Witherspoon. My husband told me he couldn’t see the head band in my hair, but that’s another thing I like about the Colour Collection and this head band.
