My second biggest fear regarding essential oils, behind the number one fear of misuse, is that somewhere out there, someone has purchased or been gifted essential oils and has no idea how to use them. Might even be a little intimidated or overwhelmed, because there is so much information – good, bad, true, false – out there about essential oils.
If you’re that person, don’t feel alone. Those of us who use essential oils every day were that person, too. I’m going to share with you some ways I incorporate essential oils into my life every day. A couple of things up front. I use good, quality essential oils aromatically, topically and internally. If you haven’t already, please take a moment to read last week’s blog on this topic. Also, please read my disclaimers and disclosures. I’m always all about transparency.
Last March, I first began using essential oils to help with seasonal issues – sniffles, sneezes, coughing, wheezing, and watery, itch eyes. Seasonal, meaning all four seasons. I started out slow, diffusing two drops each of lemon, lavender and peppermint essential oils. I diffuse this combination whenever I’m in my home office and at night with a couple of drops of R.C., a proprietary Young Living Essential Oils blend that helps with breathing. I’ve since worked up to three to four drops of lavender, lemon and peppermint. This combination clears me up and lets me wear my contacts for many more hours.
I’ve written previous blogs about using essential oils for my skin regimen, bath and hair/lashes growth and strengthening.
I’m going to sound a bit like a hippie chick for a moment, but I put Joy over my heart and Stress Away on my wrists and behind my ears every morning; both are proprietary Young Living Essential Oils blends. It’s my chill combination. Some days, I feel the need to apply Stress Away more than once.
I use a variety of roller bottles, containing a combination of essential oils diluted with pure grape seed oil, for whatever issues appear from day to day. The grape seed oil is a “carrier” oil. Other carrier oils with which you can dilute essential oils include, but are not limited to, olive oil, sesame seed oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, etc. I use the lavender, lemon and peppermint essential oils and carrier oil in a roller bottle when I’m on the road and need some seasonal support. My other rollers have names like Cough Quieter, Tummy Tamer and Immunity Booster. Immunity Booster has a combination of Thieves and Purification blends and frankincense and oregano with carrier oil. I roll it on the bottoms of my feet before leaving the house. I’ve traveled to New York City, Baltimore and St. Louis in recent months, sitting on planes, going through airports and being around a lot of people. I have remained crud-free. My allergy doctor asked me last month if I remembered the last time I had a sinus infection. I could not. I credit his allergy drops and the essential oils that I use every day.
I’ve also made pain creams, lip balm and soap with essential oils. Truly, the possibilities are endless. There are a number of social media posts and essential oils recipe books that are great aides to helping you find the combinations of essential oils and methods of delivery that work best for you.
One of the items I give to those who purchase essential oils from me is Essential Oil Recipes: One Drop at a Time, a 70-page essential oils recipe book contributed to and put together by me and my oily friends. I use it almost daily. The other items I give include: information on how to use essential oils, an essential oils app, and essential oils accessories (a couple of roller bottles, pipettes and vegetable capsules). That’s how important is to me that those who’ve entrusted me to start them on their oily journey actually use their essential oils. I want them to experience how essential oils can improve their overall wellness.
If you’re an experienced essential oils user, I’d love to hear how you use essential oils in your everyday life. If you’re new to essential oils, let me know how I can help you maximize your usage. Feel free to leave a comment below, and I will get back with you.
My next blogs will discuss where to get essential oils accessories and matching essential oils to your needs. Until next time, try something new with your essential oils and share in comments.
