Whether you think Sunday is the last day of the week or the first day of the week, will determine whether you will be treated to one or two blogs from the 99 Bottles of Oils on the Wall series this week. And yes, Clarity, a Young Living Essential Oils proprietary blend is on my oils wish list. Last week was crazy with work, and Motivation and En-R-Gee, two other blends, helped me power through. En-R-Gee was featured in 82 Bottles of Oils on the Wall, and Motivation will be featured in a future installment.
Welcome to the 11th installment of 99 Bottles of Oils on the Wall, where each week, I take 5 essential oils down from my oil cabinet and various other places and give the 411 on each single or blend. One of this week’s featured oils was hiding in my medicine cabinet, so forgive the not-quite in alphabetical order, which is how I arrange my oils for quick access. If you haven’t done so already, be sure to follow Oils & Spoils through wordpress or email for a chance to win one of this week’s featured oils. So far, 10 of my oils have found new homes. You can either click on Follow at the end of this blog or on the lower corner of your screen to follow Oils & Spoils.
This Week’s Featured 5 Essential Oils and Blend
Geranium: Geranium is steam distilled from Geranium’s flowers and leaves. Geranium’s aroma is uplifting and peaceful. While Geranium can be used for many things, a primary use is for skin. Geranium helps to cleanse oily skin, revitalize skin cells and ease those “fine” lines. I use a drop neat (without carrier oil) on top of a cotton ball with my toner and apply all over my face. Geranium is found in many Young Living Essential Oils skincare and bath and body products, as well as blends. Young Living Essential Oils‘ Wolfberry (the main ingredient in NingXia Red products) Eye Cream contains Geranium and is also on my oils wish list. Geranium can be diffused, directly inhaled or applied topically.
Lime: Lime is cold expressed from the rind of the unripe fruit. Lime is available as a Young Living Essential Oils single and as part of their Vitality dietary essential oil line, which means you can take it as a dietary supplement and/or add it to food. Two (2) drops of Lime in 8 ounces of salsa is delightful, adding just a hint of extra flavor. Lime is great in water and beverages; just be sure to drink from glass or steel, as citrus essential oils can break down the toxins in plastic. Lime has a light and uplifting aroma. Diffuse lime to encourage positive feelings. Lime can be used to help with blemishes, but be sure to use at night or apply sunscreen, as lime is photosensitive. Lime can be found in the following Young Living Essential Oils products and blends: A.R.T. Beauty Masque, AlkaLime, Common Sense, Copaiba Vanilla Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner, and Stress Away. Lime can be diffused, directly inhaled, used as a dietary supplement and in food, and applied topically, diluted 1:1 (1 part essential oil with 1 part carrier oil).
Lemongrass: Lemongrass is steam distilled from the herb/grass. Like Lime, Lemongrass is available as a single and as part of the Vitality dietary essential oil line. Taken as a supplement, Lemongrass helps to support wellness. Lemongrass can also be used to flavor foods and water. A key ingredient in Young Living Essential Oils proprietary blend Purification, Lemongrass is also an ingredient in the Ortho Sports blends. I use Purification on wool dryer balls, in lieu of dryer sheets, and Ortho Sport massage oil has helped my husband and brother-in-law with aches and pains. Lemongrass can be worn alone, or with other essential oils, to help awaken the senses. I use Lemongrass to help diminish those nasty vein lines on my legs, in my Lemongrass Lavender Moisturizing Spray (1/4 cup distilled water, 1 1/2 teaspoon pure vegetable glycerin, 1 teaspoon pure grape seed oil, 4-5 drops Vitamin E, and 5 drops each Lemongrass and Lavender in a spray bottle) or in a roller bottle, diluted 1:4. Lemongrass can be diffused, directly inhaled, used as a dietary supplement and in food, and applied topically, diluted 1:4.
Live Your Passion: Live Your Passion™ Young Living Essential Oils propriety blend was created for the 2016 International Grand Convention to evoke feelings of empowerment, clarity, and inspiration. Live Your Passion is a blend of: Royal Hawaiian™ Sandalwood, Orange, Nutmeg, Lime, Idaho Blue Spruce, Northern Lights Black Spruce, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense and Peppermint. Live Your Passion has a citrusy, sweet and woodsy scent. Add Live Your Passion to your favorite Young Living Essential Oils bath and body products, such as Lavender Hand and Body Lotion. Diffused, Live Your Passion helps to re-center your focus. Live Your Passion can diffused, directly inhaled and applied topically, diluted.
Manuka: Manuka is steam distilled from chopped leaves and stems. Manuka supports the appearance of healthy looking skin, reduces the appearance of blemishes and can be added to your favorite skincare products. Manuka is similar to Tea Tree essential oil, but is warmer, richer and milder. Manuka can be diffused, directly inhaled and applied topically.
