This Week’s Featured 4 Essential Oils and 1 Essential Oils Blend
Nutmeg: Nutmeg is steam distilled from fruits and seeds and has a warm, spicy aroma that’s energizing and uplifting. A couple of whiffs inhaled directly from the bottle, and I’m transported to Fall or Winter, no matter the season. Nutmeg can be diffused by itself or enhanced with one or more of the following essential oils: Orange, Clary Sage, Eucalyptus or Ginger. Nutmeg can also be used as a dietary supplement and applied topically, diluted 1:2 (1 part essential oil and 2 parts carrier oil). Listed in a compilation of early German medicines by herbalist Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179), Nutmeg helps to ease sore muscles and support the liver and stomach and circulatory and nervous systems. Nutmeg is found in the following Young Living Essential Oils products: EndoFlex, En-R-Gee, Magnify Your Purpose, NingXia Nitro, ParaFree and Power Meal.
Ocotea: Ocotea is steam distilled from plant leaves and is commonly referred to by Ecuador natives as false cinnamon. Known for its skin-cleansing properties, Ocotea also helps to support digestion and healthy blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Ocotea can be directly inhaled, diffused and applied topically, diluted 1:2. Ocotea is found in the following Young Living Essential Oils products: A.R.T. Beauty Masque and Creme Masque, Common Sense, KidScents Slique Toothpaste, Oola Balance, Slique Essence and Tea, Stress Away, Thieves AromaBright Toothpaste, and Transformation.
Orange: Orange is cold pressed from the fruit’s rind. Orange is available as a Young Living Essential Oils single or as part of the Vitality new dietary essential oil line, which means you can take it as a dietary supplement and use to enhance beverages and culinary dishes. If you add Orange to your beverage, be sure to use glass or stainless steel drink ware and a stainless steel straw, as citrus oils can break down the toxins in plastic. Orange is a favorite for diffusion, because of its clean and uplifting aroma. Orange can help support the circulatory system, ease fluid retention and improve a dull and oily complexion, in addition to easing fine lines. Orange can be directly inhaled, diffused, taken as a dietary supplement and applied topically, diluted 1:1. Caution: Orange is photosensitive, so use at night or apply sun screen. I also put a drop of Orange on my toothpaste every day to help whiten my teeth. Orange is found in the following Young Living Essential Oils products: Abundance, Awaken, Balance, Complete, Christmas Spirit, Cinnamint Lip Balm, Citrus Fresh, Envision, Harmony, ImmuPro, Inner Child, Into the Future, Lady Sclareol, Longevity, NingXia Red, Oola Balance, Oola Grow, Peace & Calming, Power Meal, Pure Protein Complete, SARA, Slique Bars, Super C, Thieves Foaming Hand Soap, and Thieves Lozenges.
Oregano: Oregano is steam distilled from plant leaves. Like Ocotea, Oregano is listed in a compilation of early German medicines by herbalist Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179). Like Orange, Oregano is available as an essential oils single and as part of the Vitality Line. Oregano has a strong, herbaceous fragrance and helps to support the immune, respiratory and digestive systems. Oregano can be diffused, taken as a dietary supplement and applied topically, diluted 1:4. I roll Immunity Booster on the bottoms of my feet whenever I leave the house and have only been sick once in the past year and a half. I have to count the ear infection I got as the result of fluid trapped in my ear during flight as the one time I was sick in 18 months, even though it wasn’t caused by a virus. My Immunity Booster recipe is 10 drops Thieves, 5 drops Purification and 3 drops Oregano, topped with a carrier oil (I like pure grape seed oil) in a 10 ml roller bottle.
Owie: Owie is a proprietary blend of Coconut Oil and Idaho Balsam Fir, Tea Tree, Helichrysum, Elemi, Cistus, Hinoki and Clove essential oils and is part of Young Living Essential Oils‘ KidScents line. Owie can be applied topically to improve the appearance of your child’s skin or diffused. Next time I have an Owie, I’m going to try it. Yes, I know it’s a kids’ blend, but I use Geneyus, another KidScent blend, for focus, and like it. It’ll be our little secret.
This week’s giveaway oil is a 5 ml bottle of Nutmeg, a $17.11 retail value. One (1) winner will be randomly drawn from Oils & Spoils followers. Is 13 your lucky number?
